Boreal Echoes

Boreal Echoes is the result of three years of learning, conversation, and experimentation by a cohort of artists who were inspired and informed by the boreal forest, the scientists who study it, and each other.

Boreal Forest Stories

Boreal Forest Stories is a cross-disciplinary, collaborative multi-year project examining change in the boreal forest through narrative across disciplines of science, art, and humanities.

Lightness of Being

Lightness of Being is a year-long deep dive into the butterflies and moths of Alaska and the Arctic with the Ken Philip Lepidoptera Collection through using a scanning electron microscope to create imagery of influence for a body of paintings.

Far North Crankies

Crankies are a creative practice that combine art, stories, spoken word, singing, and music. The stories can take many forms from traditional Appalachian ballads to contemporary music, poetry, or oral history. Crankies are based on the mid-nineteenth century moving panorama and myriorama performances popular in Europe and America up through the 1920s but also can be related to puppet productions from the 1700s in Europe and in the Far East even further.

Microbial Worlds

Microbial Worlds is the culmination of 16 months of collaborative work by visual artists, writers, and scientists on the topic of microorganisms.
